A Sidequest Experience
One journey.
Many cities.

Three steps
One adventure that crosses borders.
01
Pick your Epic
Browse Epics that span countries, coastlines, or themes — a tour through a country you’ve always wanted to see, a themed trail across a region, a personal bucket list someone else has already mapped. Every Epic has a story and a route.
02
Travel at your pace
Complete each city’s stops when you’re there. Progress saves between trips, so you can pick up exactly where you left off — even if “last time” was four years ago. Visit in any order. Skip and come back. The Epic waits.
03
Finish the story
Claim real rewards at partner venues along the way where Epics offer them — or, on some Epics, just collect the photos, the miles, and the satisfaction of having done it. Every Epic ends with something to show for it.
Inside an Epic
12 Views of Fuji
Decades ago, Grandma Katayama travelled across Japan and stood at twelve different places with a view of Mt. Fuji. She still remembers every one of them — the light, the season, the angle of the mountain from each spot.
She can’t make the trip again. She’s asking you to.
This Epic has no reward waiting at the end — no free drink, no unlock, no discount. The premise is the reward. You get twelve reasons to move through Japan on your own terms, twelve specific places to stand, and one person’s memory to carry with you.
Bring your camera. She’d like to see the mountain again.

12 Views of Fuji
Clue — Grandma Katayama’s memory
“I stood on the north shore at dawn, before the tour boats came out. The mountain was perfectly still in the water. I thought it was two mountains.”

FAQ
The quick version.
What makes an Epic different from a regular Quest?
A Quest lives in one neighbourhood and takes about an hour. An Epic strings together stops across multiple cities — sometimes across a country — and plays out on whatever timeline works for you. Same mechanics, bigger map.
Do I have to finish an Epic all at once?
No. That’s the whole point. One stop on a business trip, four more on a holiday, the last seven whenever you’re next in that part of the world. Your progress is saved to your account and waits for you.
What if I only visit some of the cities?
Play the stops you can. Come back for the rest when you’re in town. There’s no penalty for pausing, and no expiration on an in-progress Epic.
Are there rewards?
Some Epics hand out real rewards at partner venues along the way — a free drink, a meal, a discount — the same model as our Quests. Others, like 12 Views of Fuji, are built around the journey itself, with the experience as the reward. Each Epic tells you upfront which kind it is.
How does progress work across trips?
Everything is tied to your free Sidequest account. Close the tab, put down your phone, come back in three years — your completed stops and unlocked memories will be right where you left them.
Can I play solo, with a partner, or in a group?
All three. Solo travel, a couple’s trip, or a group of friends coordinating across years — every account tracks its own progress, so a group can run the same Epic in parallel and compare notes.
How much does an Epic cost?
Nothing. Every Epic on Sidequest is free to play. Where rewards exist, they’re provided by partner venues because they want to meet you. No paywall, no premium tier, no upsell.
Your Epic is
waiting.
Create your free Sidequest account and unlock every live Epic on the map. Your progress saves for as long as you want to take — whether that’s two weeks or twenty years.
Free forever. No credit card. No expiration on your journey.
