Clue 1

I guard the entrance to a hundred flavours, but I have no door. I wear a painted mural on my east wall and a rusted hook above my arch. What street am I on?

Mystery

Kensington Market

The Kensington Caper

A stolen artifact, lost to time. Clues scattered across the market. Your job: find it before the trail goes cold. Maya answered the call when a centuries-old artifact vanished from Kensington’s records — riddle by riddle, alley by alley, she retraced a thief’s steps and pulled the lost piece back into the light.

“I’ve walked Kensington a hundred times and never noticed half the details I spotted doing this. Felt like I was the only one in on the secret.”

— Maya, solo player

Comedy

Kensington Market

The Scorned Lover

Someone’s partner hid three words across Kensington to lock them out of their game console. They need a hero. That hero is you. Jordan got dragged into someone else’s lovers’ quarrel — what started as a favour turned into the best date night they’d had in months.

“We came for the storyline, stayed for the running around. My partner couldn’t stop laughing. We’re already planning the next one.”

— Jordan, date-night players

Fantasy

Kensington Market

Rodney’s Revenge

A begrudged imp has locked a bar’s signature cocktail recipe in an enchanted cellar. Three words, three market locations, one very unamused bartender waiting for you to save the night.

“I was so absorbed in the quest I forgot that the reward was free access to the bar.”

— Tim, first-time quester

Wait — there’s a reward?

Every quest ends
at a real venue.

When you finish a quest, the final location is where your story lands — a bar, a café, a shop, a gallery. Show the staff your unlock, and they’ll hand over the reward.

A free drink, a dish on the house, early access, a discount, a secret menu item. Rewards vary by quest, but they’re always real and they’re always worth showing up for.

Why do local spots offer this? Because every quester who walks through their door is someone who just spent an hour getting excited about their neighbourhood. You’re not a coupon user — you’re a person they want to meet.

FAQ

The quick version.

Do I need an account?

Yes, but a free account is all it takes. Your account saves your progress across quests and is how we assign and deliver your rewards — no sign-in, no reward.

How much does a quest cost?

Nothing. Every quest on Sidequest is free to play. Rewards are provided by the participating venues because they want to meet you — there’s no paywall, no premium tier, no upsell.

How long does a quest take?

Most quests run 60–90 minutes on foot, depending on how fast you solve clues and how long you linger at each stop. Short enough for a weeknight, long enough to feel like you did something.

Can I play solo, with a partner, or in a group?

All three. Quests work just as well alone, on a date, or with a group of friends. Each account tracks its own progress, so in a group one person can run point — or everyone can race.
